Most of the time on Gig4Free we cover free hosts, and most are based around PHP. This time, we are reviewing a free ASP web hosting solution with a not so creative name, Freeaspwebhosting.org. Free ASP Webhosting provides you with a free serivce, as long as you answer a survey that they send you. They don’t state how often you have one of these surveys, but they state that the ads via the surveys pay to keep the servers running.

Here is what you get for answering those surveys. You receive 1024 MB or 1 GB of disk space, and 10240 MB of bandwidth. Both of these options are upgradable, but the site doesn’t say how. Maybe they send you more surveys than other users, or you may have to pay for it. You also get support for ASP .Net versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5. You also get 50 MB worth worth of MSSQL 2008, which is also expandable. They state that they provide MySQL 5 hosting, but they don’t give any information on the number of databases or database sizes you receive. This is one of the few hosts that provide Frontpage extensions. Most of the other options seem to be standard for free hosting, or can be scripted like hot linking protection. If you provide your own domain, you also get five pop3 accounts.

Based on the features, freeasphosting.org doesn’t look like that bad of an ASP host provider.
